Welcome from the President
As a longstanding member of the CBIFFAWS, I consider it a tremendous honor to serve as your President for the 2010-2011 term. I will rely on my experiences as an active member and two-term Vice President as well as the knowledge and contribution of our membership to help carry our Association forward through these next couple of years.
Since its establishment in the early 1940's, CBIFFAWS has focused its operations on information availability and encouraging our membership to strive for higher education in the international trade industry. With the recent updates to the CBIFFAWS by-laws which awards membership to Regular Members as well as Associate Members, we look forward to the development and expansion of membership in our association.
We are fortunate to have a coalition of partners working together to realize change in our region locally as well as nationally. As members of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) and Pacific Coast Council of Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Assns., Inc. (PCC), we actively pursue the opportunity to be on the frontline of international changes as they are happening as well as taking an active role in the development of new government programs. Our members travel twice a year to meet with Congress and different regulatory agencies to educate and continue dialogues on issues that are most important to our membership, industry, local trade community.
As the closest U.S. port to Asia and with our close proximity to the Canadian border our membership faces a wide array of importing and exporting situations on a daily basis. Therefore, it is imperative that we are seen and recognized for being an exceptional group of professionals offering regulatory guidance in the import and export transportation industry.
We are very enthusiastic about the development of our website and encourage our membership to be active contributors as well. As members we hope you will become familiar with this site. You can look forward to postings of events and activities in our calendar section as well as photos of these events. We will be posting details of our travels to Washington DC, NCBFAA Conference and PCC WESCCON. This site is expected to provide a closer channel of communication for our membership and we hope that you will visit it regularly.
